To Boldly Go Where No Tourist Has Gone Before

Shout-out to Google Maps for attempting to drag Makayla and I through a bunch of non-Japan-Rail-pass-compatible train lines. Fortunately, we found Japan Transit Planner that shows us a JR-pass-compatible way of getting somewhere without paying a bunch of money. Sweet!

We took roughly 5 trains (took us around 2 hours) to get to Hannō, then walked an hour and a half to get to “日和田山” (I still don’t know how to vocalize that haha).

For the entire hour-and-a-half of walking through a city, along the highway, and past small houses, we didn’t run into any other tourists! The local people seemed mildly surprised that we strayed so far from the more conventional tourist destinations.

Anyways, after all that travelling and walking, we finally started our hike!

We grabbed some artificial-ice-cream cones from the 711 and walked around “Kuritsubo” (I think that’s the name of the overall area? Maybe).

School must’ve just finished around the time we started walking back to the train station, so we crossed paths with a bunch of friendly teenagers who all threw out some “Hello!“s. I got to practice my two-finger peace sign technique a bunch. Finally, once we made it to the station, we flashed our JR passes and made it back to Tokyo.

Who the h*ck has farms without having chickens? We walked by this farm that had horses, but not a single bird. I was mildly offended, but I managed to continue the journey despite this blow to my spirits.
