Fallen Ice Cream

Today Makayla and I went full “tourist-mode” and followed a tour that worked its way towards Mount Fuji.

The day started pretty early, so we learned how awesome 7-11 is here in Japan-land. I think I’m going to be addicted to Pocky.

Hearty 7-11 meal

Our tour bus took us on a highway heading westbound.

I forget the name of this stadium

There was a lot of hanging mist today - it gave off a pretty sweet Hallowe’en effect.

The closer we got to Mt. Fuji, the cloudier it got - so cloudy, it blocked the view to the mountain for almost the entire day. That didn’t stop us from snapping some rad photos though.

Koi ponds (pronouned in a French accent as “kwah” if you want to be annoying) are neat-o.

Near the end of the day, the top of Mt. Fuji was visible for under 5 minutes. Here’s the obligatory “I went to Japan” mountain photo:

The most exciting part of this journey for me was the trip back. The bus dropped us off at ~6:30pm at Shinjuku (a completely different place from where we were picked up), and we had to sort out our own way back. Fortunately, our “JR passes” were eligible for a subway ride towards our hotel, so we used the trains.

We don’t have any photos because it was so busy it was practically impossible to get a camera out in the midst of the flow of people. We made the mistake of entering the (packed!) train car and staying near the door. When that door opened as a “people outlet”, I almost died as the rush of people pushed outwards.

I couldn’t imagine how crazy busy Tokyo roads would be if all these people used cars instead. Shoutout to Japan for having rad transit infrastructure.

Japan being all pretty 'n stuff
