To Boldly Go Where No Tourist Has Gone Before

Shout-out to Google Maps for attempting to drag Makayla and I through a bunch of non-Japan-Rail-pass-compatible train lines. Fortunately, we found Japan Transit Planner that shows us a JR-pass-compatible way of getting somewhere without paying a bunch of money. Sweet! We took roughly 5 trains (took us around 2 hours) to get to Hannō, then walked an hour and a half to get to “日和田山” (I still don’t know how to vocalize that haha).

Ear Infections Can Heck Off

Get ready for an exciting blog post! I got an ear infection, so we took our pre-booked train back to Tokyo and I felt like death the entire day. There was a glimmer of hope though: on the way back to Tokyo, a familiar sight gave me enough energy to continue the journey: I am filled with determination

Take a Hike

We were in Kyoto for the whole day today so we opted to go for another hike. According to Makayla’s step counter, we did 21769 steps. The overall vertical distance was around 600 meters. There were a ton of little hills (around ~50-100m in height) that we climbed up and down, sapping our energy. Fortunately, each little valley had a creek that we’d bridge, which was fun.
